ELEM volunteers fall loosely into three groups: volunteers in the field, Board members, and volunteers who annually work on the national fundraising campaign. Field VolunteersIn the field, volunteer duties vary from organizing a holiday party, to tutoring and developing enrichment projects, to working alongside the Outreach Van staff as they make contact with runaway and homeless youth on the street at night. There are currently over 1,200 youth and adult volunteers working in various capacities in ELEM's programs. Board VolunteersBoard volunteers, give generously of their time to fundraising and development, event planning, public relations and advocacy on behalf of youth in distress. They also develop enrichment programs in the institutions for youth in distress and volunteer for programs in the field. The International Board of ELEM has 15 members. There are also 25 members on the ELEM/America Board. As the leading voluntary non-profit organization in the area of Youth in Distress in Israel, ELEM has steadily increased the numbers of volunteers who are directly involved in settings which treat marginal youth. |
