The Lilit project was initiated in order to assist teenagers (ages 14-18) from diverse cultural backgrounds, who face difficulties integrating into formal educational frameworks. The project offers vocational training in a therapeutic, supportive environment. The teens participating in the project undergo training, with the objective of later integrating them into the restaurant industry. They receive, both theoretical and hands-on in cooking, baking, waiting tables and bartending. This takes place at the Lilit restaurant in Tel Aviv and lasts for approximately 18 months. As apprentices, they work with the chef in the kitchen and prepare the food that is served at the restaurant. They also maintain a long-term contact with the social worker. Fifty-four teens have successfully completed the program. The restaurant has recently moved to a new, larger location. ELEM is now able to accommodate up to 24 youth into the program. The restaurant serves meat and is strictly kosher. The restaurant is located at:4 Weizman Street, Tel Aviv Hours of operation:Sunday - Thursday, Noon to Midnight |
