Yael is a senior in high school who has been working since she was 14. She started working as a house cleaner. It was hard work for a child, and it took a toll on her. Yael began to feel frustrated and sad. At one point she and her mom got fired from their jobs and their economic situation deteriorated further. Currently, she is working almost everyday in two fast-food chains. The pressure is immense and she barely has any time to socialize. Yael is getting used to her busy life, juggling work and school, but as a child she shouldn’t have too. She has been working hard to pay the bills. No child should have to feel this kind of pressure on a daily basis.
